I am the new owner of a 1972 Pantera #4236. The engine was missing and I realized that the fuel tank was full of debris. I drained the tank and then removed the filler neck and was able to vacuum out the tank. It seems to me that I should remove the fuel pickup and clean it.

My problem is that my pickup is separate from the pickup/sending unit depicted in the manual and discussed in the forum. It appears that the pickup on my tank appears to be riveted to the tank. Any idea as to how to remove the pickup without taking out the tank which I know involves removing the engine?

Any help would be greatly appreciated. Bruce32751

Your pickup is probably the earlier version that is a dip tube welded into the tank near the front. If so, the only thing you can do is either blow it clear and hope it stays clear or replace your sender with a later model with the pickup included. Alternatively you could add a pickup to your existing sender.
Good luck,
Forest
