Gauges, stock vs. aftermarket

I went to VDO. White on black dials and changed the dial faces on the original tach and speedo to match the white on black VDO gauges.

Hall had an entire package to do this with. They no longer sell them since there were complaints that you had to change the senders which peopl didn't or couldn't do.

You need to change your original Veglia ammeter out anyway. It is a fire hazard.

Keep them though. They originals are not replaceable.

I also blacked out the chrome on the tach and speedo gauges. On this set, the fuel gauge reads correctly. Senders for the other gauges came with them.

The senders are necessary because they work the opposite of the Veglias.

The fuel gauge works with the Pantera sender but has no low fuel warning light like the Veglia.

If you like the style of the originals, at least for the console gauges, you can get the VDO Vision Chrome series.

Speed Hut can make custom gauges at a reasonable cost. I had a very accurate GPS speedometer made. It is a close match to the other gauges and is installed to the right of the tach.I got tired of guessing my speed with the inaccurate original speedometer and I did not want to mess with installing different ratio speedo drive in the ZF. With the GPS speedometer I always know how fast I am going.
