hood release cable routing

From your serial #, you may have gotten lucky! In '73-up, Ford redesigned the grille so it can be taken off from the outside. Once off, follow the instructions in the TSBs for opening the front hood manually. Also, many owners have Ford's short supplemental cable that comes through a small added hole in the toebox and hangs above the accelerator pedal. Both were added in case the long cable broke in service. And finally, if you make the secondary access cable hole an inch or so OD and plug it with a plastic plug, the toebox hole will also serve as access for the difficult clutch master cylinder pin removal.

Thanks Boss and JB! I found it this afternoon. Fortunately, I had not broken the old cable and I have the auxiliary release above the pedal. Years ago I replaced the cable with a pull type knob (like a manual choke cable).I am going back to the original lever style handle.
