I put a Farrari slave cylinder in my 1972 Pantera. The car drives Normally, But when I step on it, the clutch Slips. Been doing that all summer. Now, When I put it in Any Gear, It wont engage at all. I dont see the clutch turning, Just the Preassure plate. P.S. The Nut on the Slave cylinder, does nothing, no matter where I put it. It bottoms out against the cylinder.. is the rod on the cylinder too short?. Allowing the Clutch just to touch the flywheel enouygh to drive it. But, not enough under power? Wrong slave cylinder??. HELP. God Bless. Lou.

Why didn’t you just install a Pantera slave cylinder? It sounds like you have more than one problem. Not going into gear usually means you aren’t getting enough clutch release. That will destroy your synchros in no time! This could be caused by the slave being incorrect or air in the lines. The clutch slipping under power would usually mean a worn clutch but since the slave was just replaced, it could be the slave isn’t retracting properly and your clutch is always partially disengaged. The first thing I’d do is throw away the Ferrari slave and get a real Pantera slave from a vendor. Have someone qualified install and adjust it. Don’t drive the car until the issues are resolved or you could be facing a $$$$ ZF repair bill.
...if you relieve the pressure on the line (bleed out some hydraulic fluid), does the clutch engage? It could be the master (at least, I had such a problem on a brake master, it would not retract and so as the brake fluid heated up, the car gradually came to a stop...)---Lee
Where to buy a Pantera slave cylinder? What company?
Get the CNC slave cylinder. Dennis has the at pantera performance center in Colorado. Billet aluminum. Bleed the system thoroughly. You are wasting your time fitting some other cylinder and wondering why your car won’t shift.
I was unaware that Dennis had CNC clutch slave cylinders. I thought he only had clutch master cylinders. CNC went out of business over a year ago, so if you want something made by them, buy it now!
I haven’t checked lately. CNC is. Few miles from me in San Diego. Are they defunct?
