I own a 1973 white Pantera, and I am interested in getting it running. It was owned by my late husband who loved it. I think the issues are minor (battery and alternator). I am looking for a good mechanic in Atlanta. Any recommendations? Thank you so much in advance for your help! I’ve been reading this forum, and it seems like a wonderful community.

If you provide the last 4 digits of the VIN we can look in the registry to get some information on the car. What condition is the car in i.e. has it been sitting for a while? When was it last driven? Details of the car's current state will determine what level of repairs may be needed and whether someone familiar with the car needs to do the work.

The last four digits of the VIN are 5835.
The car has been garaged for several years. It had a lot of upgrades done in 2014, including a repaint.
The car is in the registry. Latest pictures were from 2009. Nice looking car.
That should be a fairly simple operation to recommission your car. I think there are a few guys in the Atlanta area that could have a look for you. Perhaps they will chime in. Too far from me.

We would be happy to restore the car to running, we can do so quite quickly & have the car back to you within a week or two...if that's all your require. Pantera is all we do, we have most everything is stock. We move cars all up & down the East coast, transport will be economical as we use the same enclosed haulers time after time, & have for years. They don't damage cars ever. Further, if your objective is to fix it & sell it, we sell lots of Panteras, 3 in the last 6 weeks alone, over a dozen this year.

I've been in Atlanta for 4 years and a Pantera Owner for less than 1 year.
No disrespect to Pantera Miami but I wish there was a Pantera Service shop closer to Atlanta Metro.
I’m surprised there are no Pantera mechanics as well in a big city with so many muscle cars at Caffeine and Octane/Caffeine and Exotics. Clearly there are mechanics somewhere?
DeTomaso vehicles are actually specialty cars as you owners know. We've had them come in after visiting half dozen 'shops' around the US and none could get them to stop boiling over. See it all the time. Usually breaking something else they had no business touching in the first place. While being a relatively simple car to work on, they are ~different~ in more than a few ways. Not only cooling system, electrical seems to big another big issue to ~normal~ auto shops if you will. Keep in mind there are Rolls Royce specific shops, Ferrari specific, Jaguar, even Austin Healey exclusive shops that specifically service the ~older~ models. All with different forte. DeTomaso products are user/owner friendly. But what happens when an early 3 point o, 8 cyl (308) enthusiast attempts to change his timing belts on 4 cam, and misses the 5-8 bank cog by one tooth? Oh boy. Hold on to your hat! Immediate valve crash. Engine out.
Say, why not give Guy Anderson a call, he's been around Pantera for decades. Owned several, written articles for POCA & Pantera International like I have, he's in the Atlanta area........he's good people.....look 'em up!

Sadly Guy passed away May 2018, it was his GT5 Pantera's that Mecum sold last year.
OMG unbelievable how time flies, seems like just yesterday we spoke on the phone I had him inspect a car for me for purchase. We spoke about the GT5.
I remember he wrote a terrific article in Autoweek, a magazine we used to advertise in back in the day. He had a white '72.
Further, he was the second owner of 2421 the pink playboy Pantera here. He bought it & painted it a dark metallic blue. Remnants of that blue are to be found to this day, i.e fuse panel area, carpet edges, under weatherstrips front/rear/doors, lower most rockers, etc. He had docs & pictures he promised to send me. Remember he had that burnt or cut Guara for sale?

As an Atlanta Area Pantera Owner may I be nosey and ask if you found a shop to service your Pantera in our area ?
I have a Pantera and live in the Atlanta area.
If all that is wrong with it is a battery and an alternator, I'd be happy to come by and fix those just to check it out and hear it start up.
