I think the Amerisport bumpers are a great solution, and much cheaper than welding/painting.

Plus, I have always worried about taking my car to a state that has more aggressive safety inspections. Will all states let me register my car with no bumpers or side markers? If that is a problem, then the Amerisport bumpers are definitely a great way to go.
Something to consider with Pantera owners with L models that are considering removing the front bumpers -

After a few sessions with a flatbed tow trunk and the big hooks they use to pull the car into the bed, I was actually considering adding the L bumper mounts on my early car and adapt them for aftermarket screw-in tow eye(s). My friend had his GT5 put on a flatbed to send it to the alignment shop and had very anxious moments also as the tow operator tried to figure where to hook up to pull the car onto the bed (humm, let's see - under the front radiator support or the aluminum billet a-arms... arghh!!!).

It's easy enough to get plugs made in body color to cover the holes when the towing eyes are stowed away. The only thing stopping me are the holes I would have to drill because I have pre-L. For you L owners, it's already done plus you don't have to go through the hassle of removing the bumper mounts on the subframe.

I saw a magazine article recently that had a picture of a Euro GT5 without bumpers. It had a screw-in towing eye where bumper mount was.

I would consider using Kirk Evan's beautiful bumperettes if I had an L model but I would drill a hole so the tow eye could access the hole to screw in when needed. Depending on whether it's painted body color or just black, the plug would just have to be painted to match.

Aloha and Enjoy
