modifying front upper ball joint | The De Tomaso Forums

i am reinstalling the front suspension and want to add more camber in the alignment .existing caster is 2.6 degrees neg. the shims are all in front of the ball joint. i also have urethane bushings in the suspension . should i modify the bushings or the ball joint or both?or a combination of upper ball joint /lower a arm? if i do the ball joint what is the maximum material removable before i see 'grease'?

Wade,

If you are looking for max caster, do both.

You can safely mill .100" off of the ball joint.

I think I took .125" off the aft end of the ball joints. Didn't modify the bushings. Nicely stabilized the steering and added a moderate amount of slow speed steering effort. Not sure I would like any more slow speed effort.
