Must be getting old. I went to reinstall the lower motor mounts to the frame. Seems I can't remember if the offset holes are supposed to be closer to the fire wall, or if I have them backwards, away from the firewall? I would hate to have to switch the mounts around with the engine and trans dangling inches above cause I had them in backwards.
Anybody remember which way they go?

Note that if you take completely stock lower motormounts and reverse them side-to-side, it shifts the entire engine/ZF package backwards about 5/8". You will have to hammer-massage the sheet-steel ZF mount tabs in back into a shallow 'S'to compensate, but this little detail then allows all Panteras to run big-cap ignition distributors without hitting the firewall, and allows more clearance around the front access panel for bigger alternators. The change is completely reversable. A simple reposition of the shifter-stick centering per the Red Owners Manual is the only adjustment to such a move; water lines, throttlem, electrical etc all are undisturbed by the move. Early lower motormounts have one asymmetric bolt hole for the insulator while later ones had TWO holes, so such mounts will fit either side. Our Sept '72-build L model had one of each...
