iam always hearing about the sales of panteras but i yet to have any real interest in my 4233 for sale . is it just iam doing it wrong or is it just not the right timing. i know louisiana is far from california but a good car is not always easy to find. this car is without fault . ive torn apart everything that might be and fixed it the right way. i guess its to far to be concerned with. Merry Christmas to all and have a great New Years.

Yeah, a custom interior is a very personal thing. Not a great idea if you're planning to sell the car on. I'm pretty conservative in my taste, but I have seen one wild interior that I thought turned out a lot better than I expected when I heard the plan to use "metallic silver mesh and orange alligator skin"... Still, I'll stick to a stock look for my cars.

yes you r right personal taste and personal choice. iam sure that other people have bought panteras that needed all types of changes because of personal choices. i happen to like the interior because its not like everyone else in black. the rest of the car is perfect, ill drive it as far and as hard as u want without any thinking. the price is 56000.00 hall has worked on it and i have corrected many mistakes by previous owners

That interior actually looks pretty nice, save for the Italian flag strip in the middle of the center console.

Sonny. You should accept the fact that although you made the car as you like, which you have every right to, many potential buyers may not like yellow interior. It would certainly sway me from buying it unless it was seriously discounted.
How many buyers do you think you would have if you painted your house lime green?
No offence, just giving you some feedback.

Hello Will; The interior reminds me of this scene from the movie Scarface...Mark

First off, the Pantera market is small. There are too many cars for the demand.

It's difficult sometimes to know what eliminates a car from consideration. It could be the paint is too shiny or just the exterior color?

Every color has it's fans and enemies. For resale on a Pantera, mathematically I'd say red is the safest color, or easiest to sell.

I would have to agree that in this case it isn't necessarily that the car has a custom interior, i.e., varied from dealer delivered new, but I do think it is the yellow AND the way it was applied.

Even though that is probably as true of a statement that can be made here, I don't think that a completely stock US Pantera interior puts the car on the "must have list". In fact IMO it is a MAJOR detractor to the car.

It (the original interior) just says "cheap, what was this guy on drugs" to me. It's a far fetch to what anyone expects in a "true exotic".

The original vinyl is the worst stuff I have EVER seen anywhere.

So my point is, even a completely stock car is going to run into re-sale blues.

You just need one person who loves yellow. Those people are USUALLY easy to spot though? Wink
its called DARE TO BE DIFFERENT at the car showes i have attended and showed at i have had nothing but positive and comments how good it looks. i dont think my feedback is out of line. its different and mine and can stay mine with out a problem. i can afford to keep it the rest of my life. i dont drive it much because i have four cars and just dont have the time to drive them all. i was hoping someone else would enjoy the car that was finished and ready to drive anywhere by just turning the key.

My favorite "custom car" of all time is 'Little Jon Buttera's", "Little coffin".

It was a chopped and channeled 32 Ford Vic. Dark Cherry red. You had to lie down in it to drive it, thus the coffin motif.

It was a real show stopper. Everyone loved it.
All this discussion and no asking price has been stated, this might be the bargain of the century for all anyone knows, then the interior color is a mute point.

Most other car forums I am a member of it is a requirment to list a price when advertizing anythng for sale.

There is a buyer for every car (and every lime green house), it just takes longer to identify that person sometimes.

I do disagree with Doug on the Pantera market; I see it as strong with cars selling at their best prices ever and collectors paying a premium for original unmolested cars.

Look. You asked people here for an opinion and apparently you don't like the answers? Tell me what you want to hear so I know how to lie to you?

You made the choice of installing that interior. It was about you. The buyer of the car isn't going to be about you, it's going to be about them.

Hopefully one of the "smilers or thumbs up" folks will buy it? Maybe not? NOW you have to deal with that reality? Sorry.

...oh, and I was referring to the picture of the Ring Bros interior with the yellow steering wheel posted above, not yours.

Sure, for $30,000, but that's all they will bring.

Then they bring out the Jay Leno's Garage video and start talking about all of the things that STILL NEED to be fixed.

Original cars are on the bottom of the pile.
Original being as assembled by Detomaso and delivered to the US dealers here.

ANYONE is going to be hard pressed to find that. Seems with a Pantera everyone has their own definition of what is "original" or acceptable as original.

Just for the moment, consider what is judged by the MCA (Mustang Club of America)in Concourse as original. They mean how the car came off of the assembly line, not with service parts which most times are different than what the car was built with.

Certainly ANY "updates" are not original under those rules.

The ONLY departure from that is if the car has been repainted, they allow for the variation from the original acrylic enamel paint, to any of the current formulas.

They don't even allow "dealer installed" undercoating.

That is the prevailing thought on what a Concourse car is vs. the Pebble Beach thought of if it's shinny, it's good?

Just finding a car with the original US 7x15, 8x15 and Arriva Goodyear tires is getting very difficult to do now.

Now having said that, personally, I don't find those cars (my definition of original) desirable at all. I think that's why original cars are at the bottom of the heap, but what the heck, this is a nice friendly discussion right? No one trying to impose their opinions as Gospel?

If you can point me to recent sales of cars that indicate you can get a decent Pantera for $30K then I am happy to be corrected. IMO those days are long gone, that said perhaps you'd like to sell me yours? I'll give you $30K sight unseen.

No doubt! I'd be a buyer for any non-rusty, mostly original, driver quality Pantera for $30K, but unfortunately those days are LONG gone.

I recently (within the last 3 months) turned down 2 serious offers from different people on my mostly original 73; one for $55K & the other for $60K, and it is it isn't even for sale. It would take a lot more than that to get me to sell. I'm seeing a lot of interest from late model Lamborghini owners who tell me their cars are just "too refined" and lack the "raw feeling and feedback" that cars like the Pantera have.
i know that everyone who has ever bought a pantera has had to do some work on ity because they didnt like the way it was. this i understand but how many people bought a car that didnt need no mechanical and just drive it away for this amount of money i dont know. every car except maybe a brand new one will need something to make you feel better about driving it,radio,or many other things. this car will run with the rest and not have problems staying up with most. some owners have so much money in their cars they could never sell it for what they have in it. i loved working on my car and can say i did everything to make it a driving car reliable and trustworthy.

Right - like this one !!

Perhaps there is hope for us all? That isn't my experience though. That one is probably a 1 of 1? If you check previous BJ Pantera auctions they have been very disappointing.

There are also those who say that the BJ auctions have absolutely no relationship to reality?
what ever it is it is. iam glad at least to get some talk about my car even if not everyone or anyone likes the interior, and if that stops a sale then they dont want a goo pantera. they will just have to wait so they can get one for more money and have to fix things so it can be driven and enjoyed. thanks for the comments guys i appricate all the input sonny
I never can tell when you guys are joking or serious.

A $30k original and unmodified Pantera?

Completely disassembled, original projects needing a full restoration are approaching (maybe already exceeding) that number.

"There are also those who say that the BJ auctions have absolutely no relationship to reality?"

I will agree with this statement. That red car did a great result at $120k + . I would guess that car to do $70k in a non auction sale...TODAY.
