Well folks, I sent out a note about a month ago saying I was about to buy a Pantera out of the U.S., and the response from everyone was amazing. The car finally arrived about 2 weeks ago - the day before I left for vacation so the car and I had some separation anxiety for a week before I got to play, then I had 3 days before taking a second trip :-( ... But now I'm back and the car and I have already met some neighbours I've never seen before - funny how that happens! In the 20-30 miles we've racked up, I've learned that it has very strong opinions about how it wants to be driven and I'm sure I'll learn more in the days/weeks/years to come.
BTW, thank you to both Will and Dave for reaching out by phone to extend their welcome to the cadre of Canadian Pantera owners, as well as to everyone who sent welcome/congratulatory notes.

I'm going to try posting some shots of the car - The first is while it is still at its former home in Michigan when I went down to inspect it

An Interior shot...
That reminds me, The car only has the retractable lap belt, and bolts for a shoulder belt, but unfortunately, not the shoulder belts themselves. Has anyone replaced their shoulder belts with harnesses and want to unload the old belts? If so, let me know - and if you happen to be headed for the Kingston meet, maybe we can sync. up then?

And a shot at its new home with just some of its siblings ... 3 kids, their bikes, a travel trailer and my wife and her lawnmower didn't make it to the shot - I'll have to set that one up soon :-)
Oh, and an interesting factoid, my brother-in-law just bought a new Mini Clubman ... did you know the Pantera is only 2 inches longer? Something else for me to get a shot of!

Last shot for now - Where all the fuss happens ... This Pantera was treated to a '72 351C H.O. engine (the replacement for the '71 351 BOSS). Since fewer than 400 of the 125,093 '72 Mustangs got this engine, I'm curious how many Panteras got it (maybe Ford shipped them all over to Italy for the '73 model year?). Anyone out there know?

Good to hear the positive feedback on the car, I just got back from taking it for a run - I didn't realize how much the ruts on the 401 grab the wheels - maybe when I get up the courage to hit the passing lane it will be better :-)

As for the convoy to Kingston, that would be a blast to join! I'm in Ajax - which is perfect for the Kingston run, I get to avoid the grind across Toronto - I guess I'll suffer through that for the Niagara event next year - but then again, there is always the 407. I'll watch for the details on the convoy - Thanks Will!

The car is # 5754 - I've registered it up on Prova Mo as well.

The restoration was done by Ron Reeves in Michigan - he had the car for 17 years, and put a fair number of miles on it. About 4-5 years ago, he began a 15 month restoration, then found that he wasn't willing to drive it as much, so after a couple of years of minimal driving, he posted it for sale. And this is where my story begins .... :-)

Russ, one of the cool things about the Pantera is how low profile she sits. It's even shorter than a Mini!!!

She is a low slung car for sure! I'm not certain that there is enough room under it for clouds though :-)

BTW I took it to its first car show today and swept the best-in-show award up against a bunch of porsches, mustangs, beemers a beautifully restored late 60's corvette stingray a nice 57 baby-bird and a mixed field of older fords, chevs and oldsmobiles - I think it helped me get votes when I fired it up and drowned out the ZZ Top tape loop that one of the tuners had blaring a few rows away.

But what surprised me was that when I stood way back and watched the crowd, there was rarely more than one or two people looking at any of the other cars, but the Pantera was pretty much always surrounded - sheesh, this is not a good thing for my ego :-)

Dave - I forgot to take some pictures of the seatbelt setup - will try to do it before the weekend - I appreciate your offer!
Just read your Post! Great looking Car! Although, the part about your wife and HER lawn mower(womans work)not being in the photo, now that was funny! Please don't show her this post, I don't need her to come to Calif. to kick my ass. (DOH) I know your going to enjoy your car! OH, and maybe let the wife drive it sometimes. Again, great car!
I'll do my best to ensure my wife won't see the posting, but she'd take any excuse to go to California, so I'd hire a bodyguard sooner rather than later :-)
There are two jobs I'm not allowed to do, mowing the lawn and shoveling the driveway (except for the drifts left by the plows, she doesn't mind if I help with those). Those are her stress relief activities ... as for me, my stress relief appears to be dusting the car - everything else is stress inducing.
