Yeah, that's the "Time Capsule" "100-mile" Pantera.

Perpetually for sale for larger amounts after each time it sells. It must be the lowest-mileage cat out there. Too bad it wasn't yellow or orange. I'm not slamming white per se, but it isn't the sexiest color to have on a car you're just going to put in a display and look at.

Yes, nice car.

But it is now FAR from original.

I sent the following to the seller.

It sums up my feelings pretty well.
-------------------------------------------

You start off your description of this Pantera by saying it has not been touched, modified or restored.

Your asking price makes it appear your intended buyer will be someone that wants to show this car as an original survivor.

Then you go into great detail of all the parts you replaced, modified or upgraded.

Your changes/replacements/upgrades have taken away any true sense of "original", and thus the justification of your pricing at this level.

Likewise, far more intensely upgraded Panteras can be purchased for much less than your price on this car.

It seems you were trying to serve two masters with this car. But you've missed the mark on both an original, or an upgraded, Pantera.

The car does look great. I do wish you luck on your sale, but I sure don't think what you have done with this car will work in your favor.

If you should obtain another time-capsule car such as this, just leave well-enough alone and let the buyer decide what changes are needed.

Just my 2¢

Larry,

I agree 100 percent, to be an original it should be an entirely unmolested Pantera down to the original tires!!!!
Larry is bang-on the money.

I know of one individual who was very seriously interested in the car and once he saw that had been altered it was no longer of interest to him. Too bad because as we all know, they are only original once. If I was the owner, I would make every possible effort to undo the "upgrades" and hope that some new interested party will come along. What will probably happen is that some unsuspecting buyer will believe the car is 100% original and when he finds out it isn't will put it up for sale—at a higher amount. Wink

I've moved this thread from the FOR SALE forum to the PUB. Has anyone ever read the heading at the top of the FOR SALE forum?

I believe this is the same Pantera Wayne had, price still seems to high and I believe he sold it at a lost compared to what he bought it for.

My bad George. In my excitement I overlooked this disclaimer. Thank you for bringing this to my attention.
