Wasn't it in Gumball rally that someone said "this is an italian car it don't need no stinkin' rear view mirror, I don't need to know what's behind me" or words to that effect while he rips the mirror off and tosses it Big Grin

My side mirros are rock solid, rear view is less than useless. I suspect most of the vibration is in the breakaway mount, but mines on there tight and still vibrates. One guy I know shortened the arm on his rear view and swears it gives him less vibration and better view over the deck (higher set mirror in car).

Yeah...the original 15" rims/tires have character, too, but you don't see many driving on them.
Truly a Pantera quirk. When I worked in the computer software industry, we'd call that a feature and some marketing guy would be put in charge of finding a benefit related to it.

Really not much of safety issue though since it's the sideview mirrors that you need to see what's around you. Rearview mirrors really are for checking for the cops!
...My RearVeiw Mirror vibrated when I first drove the Pantera. After the Engine Rebuild and Meticulous Balancing Work; the Mirror is now Vibrationless and Smooth as Silk! The Exact Quote is: "The First Rule of Italian Driving...What is Behind You is of NO Importance!"...And MY Rule(Only One) of 'American Driving' is: "Be First at The Finish!"...
If you want to cut down the vibration just try a little trick a fellow Pantera brotheren turned me on to. Take an old straight rubber spark plug boot & cut it down to the proper length so that it can be wedged between the top of the windshield & the back of the rearview mirror mounting arm. Get it wedged in good & tight & it helps stabilize the mirror from the vibration. I used a black colored boot & it is hardly noticeable from the inside or outside of the car & cut down mirror shake quite a bit. YMMV.

I'm assuming the vibration is due to my cam, but now you've got me thinking...can the balancer be replaced through the access hatch?
Danny,
This answers a question I had not been able to get around to asking, mine does the same,.
I spun the original, then put a ford racing balancer on, same problem, then one from P I motorsportswith same results. exspensive at 350 + a pop!
Just a quirk in the car, really only a problem when I'm pulling a Z06 Vette or other prey!

I can't imagine driving the car without side mirrors to see around the blind spots. How do you ever change lanes?

No "freeways" where I live. Most of the local roads are a single lane in each direction, some are 2 in each direction. The nearest road with 3 lanes about 80 miles away. In the UK it is against the law to pass on the left (passenger side). Before I move to the right I peek over my shoulder (just like riding a motorcycle).
