I recently finished this 72 Pantera for a customer. I delivered it straight from my shop to the Houston Autorama where it won "Best of Show" in it's category.
The chrome work on this car was mostly done by Speed and Sport Chrome Plating in Houston. We used mirrored stainless on the firewall and fuel tank bulkhead. Most of the other custom covers such as the ones over the strut tower brace bolts and the oil pressure sender we custom made out of aluminum and then polished.
tajon, the middle tip is functional. The mufflers are actually one Magnaflow muffler that is cut in half with a new end and the tips welded on. If you look under the car, one says "Magna" and the other says "Flow."
If you want to see a ton of pictures of this restoration from start to finish, you can go to my website which is classiccollisionandrestoration.com. Go to the "Gallery" page and click on "72 Pantera."
Also, mirrors seem to be a big problem with these cars. We used mirrors from a 2012 Camaro. We had to do some reshaping of the door at the base of the mirror, but it was relatively easy metalwork. A power mirror switch from a 2012 Camaro was put in the console right past the ash tray.
I have been going through the restoration photos, still got a lot to view ....that required a lot of metal work. were you aware it would be that much cut and replace?
We had no idea the metal would be that bad. Someone did a very good job of covering up previous problems. The patches someone welded in were horrible. Other places they just put bondo in rust holes.
