The steering column is knocking against the hole in the firewall. The boot will not fit because the column is not centered and is too close to one edge. Is the column adjustable so I can center it?

Okay I remember that when re-installing. I was hoping for some kind of under the dash adjustment.
Did you check the U-joint?

Check all of them. I have some stock ones if you need them.
Check the steering column lower bushing. It's made of plastic and has probably worn or gone completely. Go to IPSC.Org. Sells Bronze bushing to replace lower steering column factory plastic bushing. Part# IPS047
My brass bushing came loose . Had to drill a hole and put in screw to hold it in .
Where did you drill this hole, and did you have to remove the rack?
No I did not remove rack .I had a flexible cable with a chuck on the end hooked up to my drill and with a small drill bit drilled hole. Then used small self tapping screw .The rack already had a screw in it but I think that is to hold in the original bushing. I was told you leave the old one in and just add the brass one , The brass one was installed when my brother had car. Don't know way he did not put screw in there to hold brass bushing in . he passed away so there is no way to ask him .
