Throw-out Bearing to Clutch Fork

Good Afternoon,

I have a rookie question since I didn't take pics of the throw-out bearing when I removed from the ZF. Do the clips on the bearing collar need to clip around the ZF clutch fork? Or does the ZF fork just push against clips? It seems the clips would need to connect to the fork in order for the bearing to be pulled away from the clutch assembly when the pedal is released.
