Finally changing priorities to get my car off jackstands. She doesn't deserve this Wink

A few Q's. I noticed when I pulled my other set of c302b heads that many of the roller needles were not wearing/sitting squarely over the valve stems. Realize the canted setup on the clevelands puts the valvetrain at an awkward position. Was this an alignment error on the last assemblers part, part of the operating condition changes, or just a challenge with the canted valve setup in general?

Is the pad for the rocker studs on the aluminum SVO ABC heads thick enough to use without a stud girdle, or is it advised when using a spring with seat load of 196 and open load of 671? I've got some extra tall rocker studs on one set and shorter on the other, but thinking the taller ones were used in conjunction with a rocker girdle. I know Jomar, PRW, Trick Flow make these girdles, but does anyone have real world experience with these and clearance. I wanted to run some yates sheetmetal covers with oilers, but I'm doubting they will fit since they typically go with a rockershaft set of a c3's. I've had to clearance a set of cammotion girdles before on a windsor for tall motorsport covers which were fairly common, so wondering what folks have tried. I've looked at some spacers for the covers as well before, will have to revisit that search.

Lastly I recall when I was degreeing the cam I want to say one of the 3/8" pushrods was binding on a guideplate. I just can't recall if the guide plates had a larger diameter bore to allow it some play for adjustment or not. Do I just need to try another brand for guide plates, any suggested brands/part numbers folks have done trial and error with?

....For 3/8" push rods, you have to grind some clearance on the 3/8" Guideplates. NEVER on the sides of the slot, but at the Bottom, at the 'U' shape to make the slot LONGER, by just a little bit! I used a Dremel tool, you just need to remove about a 1/16" or less, then Polish it.
I broke one pushrod and the mating guidplate years ago, because of binding at THAT point. It was a Miracle...the rod broke into 2 pieces, but stayed together and functioned. I Never discovered it until I pulled the Rocker Cover for another reason. I purchased One new rod and guideplate, Ground the clearance on ALL plates, reinstalled, and have had No trouble since.
Thanks Marlin and Kelly for the responses. I have been leaning more toward the adapted rockershaft setups given the costs for the rocker girdle and likely valve cover spacers which at that point I might as well just remove the necessity to massage these parts.

So Kelly is that the YT6321?

I may be interested in the T&D setup because right now I'm having some clearance issues on a cam I have and a cam I'm having made. Do the C302b's have more of a shallow chamber vs the iron 4v closed chamber heads?

T&D has the 7200 and 7201 which offer a 1.65 and a 1.6 ratio's according their site? Wondering if anyone has run either of those.
