I have seen some awesome cars here and on other sites that have inspired me, but I do have limitations on what I can spend. It caused me to wonder, if money were no object at all, not the least concern in fact, what would you do??? What would be the first modification you would look at?? Or would you get rid of your Pantera and get the Bugattii Veron??

Me, no matter how rich I got, no matter what other cars I bought, I would keep my Pantera, but that may be because I am sentimental. But I would love to build one that used a carbon-fibre monocouque . Maybe even use the old one to make the mold???

Well 1st it would be a widebody.
(2nd) would be the motor 427 625 HP.
(3rd) upgrade to six speed polished.
(4th) wheels-tires 17 or 18inch.
(5th) replace wiring.
(6th) change headlights to projector or HID lights and match in frt spoiler.
(7th) in corp a tube type chassis throughout, clean up the suspension points front and rear.
(8th) Billet type A-arms & bearing housings & front spindles.
(9th) New calipers and rotors
(10th) Fab some inner fender wells.
(11th)New type dash & gauges.
(12th)New seats.
(13th)New type console.
(14th)New radiator.
(15th)New pipeing.
(16th)Braided fuel lines.
(17th)Stainless brakes lines.
(18th)Power steering.
(19th)Crank trigger.
(20th)Paint in a type of Candy Paint with Ghost highlights, and that would be just a start if no money was a concern.

Cool, very cool. But why not go with a bell helicopter turbine???

I think one of Larry Stock's Panteras has the ghost highlights. Not something I would do..but it does look good on his car.

I would go with a mirror finish to blind people on bright sunny days. Just because I am mean. Big Grin
As in ghost highlights aren't flames, they only enhance the flares and body lines sort of like what Coz did on his quarter panels on his GT5.

I use to have a 280zx that was brandywine and had cherry pearl inlay on the widebody kit I had on the car,the only time you would really see it if the sun hit the right way,or if car lights hit it at night.
Damm, you better win the lottery, twice.

Well really COZ I thought you would share some of your retirement toward my way, then I could visit and watch you help work on mine with me lol.

And by the way Coz,I will be going down to look at that GT5 in Fl we talked about in June, then hopefully I will have some good news....

Oh and by the way I can dream can't I, it was a wish list.

Reading over your list makes me want to ask you to build me one too. But I'd have to sell my house to do it and I don't think a wife and 4 kids will fit in it cause that's where we would be living with a list like that.

Cool on the Florida trip. have you got anyone to help you look at it ? I know a few of the guys in Florida and I'm sure one of them would go with you if you need the help. I know you have the experience with Hot Rods, just don't want you to get off on the wrong foot with your first Pantera. It would wreck that retirerment you have coming up brother. Let me know and I'll ask. I really hope this one works out for you, you've waited a long time.
If it doesn't work out, maybe I'll sell you mine....:-)

Well as for the car I am looking for,I just want a dependable GT5 or Clone, that I can tinker with and improve, not wanting to do anything drastic cause I love the body lines of the Pantera.

Since I have been looking on the site everyone here has cars they have added their own little touch to their cars and hopefully I will be joining the others.

And when I do get the Pantera my name will definitly change from someday to my # car.

I would leave the apperance as close to the sam as possible. Maybe a little ducting here and there to feed the 2500 HP turbime motor, but not much else. Roll Eyes
I'm jealous, I'm not planning to retire until 2010. Red Face

My youngest son graduated high school last year, he got a Ford Ranger. Dad, who raised his kids as a single parent, rewarded himself with his dream car, a Pantera.

So what does my dream Pantera look like...well its silver, has Etoile wheels, Wilwood brakes, Koni shocks.....wait a minute, thats the car in my garage Wink

I realize that many of you may find this whole topic strange. Th epurpose of it was to spur creative juices. If money were no object, what could be done to a Pantera? Once a vision is realized, further creativity can be channeled in to making the dream affordable. Some concern was expressed in changing what the car's intention originaly was. The original car was meant to be a grand touring vehicle. In other words, state of the art performance and luxuray for touring the country sides at excesive speeds, and arriveing at your destination, relaxed and exilerated.
Toward that end, I would think any improvement to the power to weight ratio, as well as improvements to the comfort levels would qualify, Safety also plays an important role in feeling secure at high speeds.
I would incorporate such things as the Cadalac night vision heads up display and headlights that mearly allowed others to see there is a car coming at them, not blind them with 100,000 Watt hallogens.
It was meant to foster ideas and spark creativity as this marque is totaly unique in that is has zero value as an original car. The value of the car is totaly dependant on it's desireability. I have seen a Studebaker that has over a million dollars put in to it. The car was absolutely stunning in it's workmanship. It was on display at Lowes motor speedway in Charleot NC. Wwas the car worth a million dollars?? No way. Was it unique and memeroble??? Modern in every way?? Absoluetly. I was hoping to spur that same sort of ingenuity in my favorite marque.
None the less, Laslo's car is a beautiful car.

Thanks a bunch Mark. I do too. I looked at many before I decided on these. I felt they just looked right on the car, my dream car Wink Well actually, if I could own my dream car and money was no object, it would be a Saleen 7 Eeker

But this one will do for now.

Coz I really like your rims on your Pantera
Would you take the Saleen twin turbo S7 over the new Bugatti Veron??
Absolutely. And it wouldn't even have to be a twin turbo. Goes back to maintenance and upkeep. The Saleen would be easier to maintain and the parts would be much cheaper. Which is why the Pantera is by far the best bang for the buck comparied to Ferrari and Lamborghini.

I think what is neat about the Pantera is that you can dare make it differant. You wouldn't dare consider putting differant parts into or updateing a Daytona Ferrari or a 959 Porsche. The faithfull would tar and feather you. It is expected of a Pantera to have baer brakes, latest racing crate motor, etc. It is the ultimate resto-mod. It is like a well kept secret from the world and I would like to keep it that way. Next time someone asks me at a car show if my car is a kit car, I am going to tell them yes, I crafted the entire car by hand and I will build them one just like it for under one million dollars. Smiler
Well, I like the "white" part anyway.
Your forgot the Group 5 to make the 4-some of Pantera's.

Hmmm. Let's see, that would be a nice 1700 hp garage. All white.

One red S7 doesn't even compare, no matter how many razors you throw in.
I used to think that if I won the lottery I'd buy a collection of Lambos and classic Ferraris. I still might do that, but I wouldn't get rid of the Pantera.

What would I do? Get someone who knows what they are doing, like Rousch for example, to build me an all-alluminum, big-displacement, big HP motor. With the Quella IR FI system. That looks really cool.

It would get a RTB 6-speed tranny. It would get a fresh coat of paint, and it would get driven! My dream Pantera isn't all that different to the one in my garage...

My dream Pantera is one that you can drive and never worry about annoying problems. Maybe just jack up the radiator cap and drive a brand new Pantera under it???
Although a pain in the A** sometimes, working on it is 1/2 the enjoyment of owning it. Anybody can write a check to have it worked on, some better than others, doing it yourself is a pride and accomplishment thing. Besides, if you won the lottery, look at all the time you'd have on your hands. :-)

Well since money is no longer a consideration, would you still work on your own car or would you hire the best professionals to do so???
I know what you mean. Last fall I blew up the original motor. My son and I were going to put in a brand new crate motor until my wife caught wind of it. "GREASE on the door knobs for years??? NO way!!!" She was real emphatic that I have the worked performed localy. I did, I got it back two months ago. I have driven it less than 100 miles since then because I am still trying to fix the damage he did to my car. It seems like every free minute I have lately is spent just trying to sort it all out. Frowner
Well I am like Coz,the reason I want to get one is to work on it myself,I like tinkering with stuff. Also have done some body work in my life time and built some engines too. And I would feel alot better to know something is being done right than worrying about some yahoo that doesn't care about the car he is working on and just thinks about the money.

And I know having a new type cobra motor is kewl as far as having a computer, but since I am a old hot rodder I still like the sound of a good camshaft when it idles. Just makes a car sound sweet as you pull along side of someone and they hear your car and they know you have some horse power under the hood (but most would probably want to look under the front hood lol!)

Yeah I know what you mean about the cam thing. I loved it when engines loped at idle. They just don't do that naymore, no matter how powerfull they are.
I have been working on it trying to fix what he did. One time I had taken it back because it had an oil leak. The guy stood inside the engine bay looking for it. He told me how he had put vise grips on the tranny input shaft trying to shift it. That is when I freaked out. After informing him how much a new tranny costs and he was paying for a new one if this one was dammaged, I took my car back to fix myself.
That's another great point. Why should I pay someone to learn on my car when I can save the money, learn myself and get it done right the first time. Sorry to hear that DeTom.
