I installed a 100 amp altinator, with electronic Regulator. with this, if I am under 1200 rpms,(idle) it discharges. If I try to open the window, barely moves, until I raise the rpms above 2000. Never had this with the old Alt. Otherwise fine, runs great, amp needle usually dead center. I chked the wiring, and ground, seems ok. anyone experienced this? thks. K/C

IT'S THE TWO WIRES GOING TO THE "GEN" LIGHT BEHIND THE SPEEDOMETER! ONE WIRE IS ALL WHITE AND THE OTHER WIRE IS BLUE WITH A BLACK STRIPE! NOW THIS IS ON MY 74L! THE SPEEDOMETER IS ON THE LEFT. PULL THE WIRES OFF THE LAMP, ELIMINATE THE RESISTER AND AND LIGHT SOCKET AND CONNECT THE TWO WIRES TOGETHER AND INSULATE THEM! YES! YOU WILL NO LONGER HAVE THE GEN."IDIOT" LIGHT, BUT BY THE WAY YOUR AMP GAUGE WILL NOW WORK, IT WILL TELL YOU EVERYTHING YOU NEED TO KNOW! THIS WAS ADVICE FROM HALL PANTERA, AFTER I INSTALLED THEIR 100 AMP ALTERNATER WITH THE BUILT-IN REGULATER. I WIRED THIS NEW ALTERNATER INTO MY OLD WIRE CHARGING SYSTEM FOLLOWING THEIR DIAGRAM/INSTRUCTIONS EXACTLY!!, THIS ALSO INVOLVES CUTTING OUT THE OLD EXTERNAL REGULATER "BOX" COMPLETELY! IF YOURS IS A DIFFERENT ALTERNATER, THIS "FIX" MAY NOT HELP YOU. I HAD THE SAME TROUBLE YOU DISCRIBED, AFTER THIS FIX IT JUST CHARGES GREAT! BETTER THAN EXPECTED. GOOD-LUCK WITH IT! MARLIN.
