12A RedTek for A/Cs

Not familiar with that one. There have been multiple easy-fixes for the ban on R-12 in the last 8 or 10 years. The cheaper ones often use PROPANE as a freon substitute. This works but IMHO would make me very nervous driving such a potential bomb... Some are legal in a few states but not in others, particularly CA. Check your local laws before you order.

Jack, here are the contents of RedTek 12A.

dimethyl methane 30-60%
methylethyl methane 40-70%
isopentane .1-1%
demethyl .1-1%

I'm not a chemist but aren't most methanes flammable?

The Co. that sells this stuff (Mel Brown Tractor Supply in CO) states "This is not Propane". But sounds pretty flammable to me.

I know "if it looks like a duck, sounds like a duck.." Just looking for a different way
to go than R12 and 134a.
