Thanks Derek.
I'm a DTDC member and I'm pretty sure I already asked him... he knows who imported it but not about the car show.
I bought mine from the son of the guy that bought it new in late '73 so I know where it has been since then - but it would be great to know if it really was the 1973 show car.

With all the stuff on the internet you'd think there be some information available about the show...

Regards
Derek
Rapier,

I assume the event your referring to was the London Motor Show at Earls Court in October 1973. If I were you I'd try and acquire editions of the various UK car magazines that were in circulation at the time (Autocar, Motor, Car etc. etc.) and see if any contain pics of your car. eBay would probably be your best bet for these.

Then try the various photo agencies who were supplying images for these mags. Autocar is still published by Haymarket and their subsidiary, LAT Photographic, will almost certainly have the original negatives if your car was featured. Even if it wasn't, it might be worth an ask anyway...

Hope this helps,

Ben Tyer
Thanks Ben,
LAT managed to find a picture of the 1973 Earls Car Show.
If you look carefully you can see the top of the De Tomaso stand in the background. But you cannot see any cars - so frustrating.

I now know that De Tomaso were on stand 125 and were showing an 'ordinary' Pantera, a Pantera GTS 'with extended wheel arches' and a Deauville.

The search continues...
Hi,
I looked at this car when the guy was selling it(somewhere near Gatwick). I was told that the car went up North (you?).
He did tell me that the car featured in the Earls Court motor show. I know this does not lead you any closer to your quest for pictures, but, it's possibly a story to tell.

I went for a drive in the car, my claim to fame.

I hope you are getting on well with it and if ever you come down to London, give us a call.

Best of luck
Hi Bulldog,
I found mine in Barnet, from a guy named Graham.
It was originally owned by a Norman.

I'm in East Anglia, which might be "up north" if you live in Gatwick.
It's silver blue (see my avatar)and has very weird grey coating on the wheels.

Is this the one you saw?

If not you either you saw the other Pantera (there were two on the stand) or one of us has been misled.
I live 5 minutes from Barnet and I never knew a car existed there.
The car I saw was a brownish colour. The guy lived in a converted barn and worked for Mclaren F1 (under Adrian Newey), as a aero specialist. He definately claimed that the car featured at the Earls Court show. He did seem the honest type. Possibly he's serving time for fraud, who knows. It could be the second car you spoke about. If you speak to Roger, he'll tell you about that car and its history. If you like give us a call 020 8882 6655.
