Once again the 2005 POCA Fun Rally is set to engage in Vegas this April.
This year's venue change has created new dynamics that will invite new
experiences for all attendees. I have been a part of this DeTomaso list for
as many years as I can recall, and I have listened annually to the debate
about the appropriateness of the tired Plaza as a facility to host this
Event. When I became POCA President, many people called and e-mailed me to
say that one of my priorities should be to locate a new site for the
convention that would provide superior accommodations and a safer
environment for spouses and family. Thus, I am aware that there is a
significant contingent of DeTomaso owners who have stopped attending in the
past and have implied they would participate again if the facilities
improve.
Through the extraordinary efforts of the Snyders and Reids and with the
financial support of POCA, the Event is moving to a first class facility. A
superior facility does equate to higher costs. No doubt, this unfortunately
will be a factor for some past participants to not attend. To offset those
who drop out, I need the participative support of DeTomaso owners who
championed the better facilities. What you have requested has been
delivered. Please join us for this first class event in a spectacular Vegas
setting.
One element that has yet to be ironed out is the location of the Car Show.
An informal poll of CHPIE(So Cal)members has led the organizers to believe that
there would not be adequate interest to travel 20 minutes across town to
Fremont Street without the benefit of the host hotel nearby. Thus, other
alternatives for the Car Show are being explored near the Orleans.
