I found the following auction : http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Ford-468-HP-351-Windsor-...QQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem

Is this a good deal for the price ? Just the heads and intake for my 351C will be more expensive than this complete engine. Will this fit the pantera?what headers would they need? They offer various combinations which would be the best?

It's cheap BUT, it's not a performance engine. A Windsor does not perform at a Cleveland level. If you find a 500hp Windsor, it would be around 550 as a Cleveland because of the canted heads. The Windsor block is not superior to the Cleveland block. Why would you want to degrade the Pantera?
It would cost you considerably more to have your engine rebuilt as a high performance engine by a performance shop then this. How much more? HP costs money. How much it costs depends on how much HP you want. It wouldn't be unusual to have a premier head specialist ask for $5,000 to give you .2 second in the 1/4 mile. In the "old days" 1/10th of a second was roughly 100hp.
I'd be wary..

"468+hp & 405 ft/lbs @ 4500 rpm"

That doesn't add up..since Power (hp) = Torque (ft-lb) * RPM / 5252

to make that hp thats 546 ft-lbs at 4500..so which is it?

Besides, why spend good cash for what is likely a hot-tanked 40-over old truck engine that you can't rebore again at those power levels, when you can get a brand-new 351 or 392 from ford?

I'm sure its fine fore somebody out there, the price is decent if the parts list is accurate, but ...I'm no that lucky and wil never be.

Doug the oiling system in a 351C is not as good as a 351W. There are mods that must be made to the 351C block to get the oiling as good as a 351W.

The difference in oiling is for a race engine with intended constant use over 7,000 rpm. The engine in question hardly qualifies for that. I am not old, I am...experienced. In the good experienced days "we" were turning Clevelands regularly at the "strip" (not to be confused with the strip club) in the 9,000 to 9,500 range with simple oil restrictors to the right side lifter gallery. Of course when "it broke" it could be tough to always determine why unless you could find all of the pieces.

If you are asking specifically about motors rebuilt by "Faster 5.0", I've never heard them mentioned before. LPB is an old drag racer form South Carolina, Bill, have you heard of them?

Your friend on the DTBB, George
----------------------------------------------------------OhOH- I kinda hate to tell 'yall this.. I may drive a FORD, but I race a Chevy. Most of the 5.0 Mustangs I race against are using Nitrious and or blowers. To me a street driven car needs neither. Well at least not No2 Wink
panhe, I belive it would be a good street motor. Headers are different. Minor plumbing differences. there are lots of Panteras running Windsors. Nothing wrong with that. I am not familer with the remanufacturer 5.0 but they sound like a reputible shop. It is just a street motor. much diff than all out performance.
