good evening all

spring has sprung, wow what a day in the midwest, lovely in the 70's with tons of sun!!!

after stripping the front trunk and coating it with a couple of coats of por-15, i started to look where i could get some 3M body schutz to finish it off with. this particular product was chosen because the engine compartment was finished with it for the previous owner, so i thought i would be consistent.

the problem is the 3M-body schutz product is applied via a spray applicator which of course costs about $100. call me cheap, but has anyone applied this product other than by the special $100 spray gun that will probably be used for nothing else, or is there an aresol can similar product out there.

thanks in advance

Schutz is a low pressure gun for things like undercoating or truckliners. Cost about $40. Try eastwood. "Schutz" is a generalized brand name.

I shot my boot with a Truck bedliner product and required the same type of low pressure gun. 3M Schutz may not be a sexy as a truckbed liner. Look around before shooting. Look at Urethane truckliner coatings from the paint shop. The prep is the same, so consider options before laying down a black rubber coating.

Whoa! There are much better products to use in the front trunk. 3M Body Schutz is an undercoating and not something you'd want inside the front trunk. Furthermore, if you want to be consistent, just go stock and cover it in felt. If you feel you have to do somethng more than that, then try any of the heat/sound insulation products. There are some you can buy in rattle cans or if you want the best, try Lizardskin or CoolCar.
