maybe ignition points are coroded must check first if you have spark.
ignition switch or steering lock ?
why will you remove this?
Simon
You say you have good spark so why mess with ignition switch? When you say it does attempt to start what exactly do you mean?
the interlock was a safety device tied into the seatbelts in the later cars. I doubt that it is the cause of your problems, if it was, I don’t think it would even allow you to crank.

What does this interlock override look like?
it is in Plainview, front of the trunk, with a red reset button.
OMG… Haven’t seen that before!
First thing that would fly into the garbage! 🤬🤢🤮
thanks for all information. not trying to remove anything just information on the override thanks very help full, all fluids were replaced before attempted start, new plugs all new points, did not change cap and rotor by eye and looks wires and cap look good, this car was totally untouched time capsule.trying keep it as original as possible however the motorcraft carb may be the culprit even though it has been rebuilt,i am mechanically inclined and know panteras also i have a 73 pantera with a boss 351 owned 13 years.this 74 seams a bit different, thank again for the wireing diagram for the lock out.
