One of only two 90 Si Panteras known to be in the US will be auctioned at the RM Sotheby's auction in Monterey August 15-17.  #9609 belonged to Kjell Jansson, treasurer for the Svenska DeTomaso Klubben, and was then purchased by De Tomaso collector Simon Vels in the Netherlands before being sold recently to a gentleman in Chicago (who I'm told also imported another 90Si from Japan).

It's not really about Mecum or RM. I see the same faces at both, and see them again at Barrett. Same 'ole same 'ole. It's about whos in the crowd that day, it's about whos on the phone bidder list, & largly it's about if it's the owners 'day in the sun' if you will, to ring the bell & break the bank. Further, there have been some cars that run the circuit, one auction to another to see where the $$$ is. Panteras, HEMI cars, Mid year Chevs, Fuelies, hi-dollar Ferraris, etc . If it didn't do the $$$ at Mecum, went back in a trailer to the next 4 or 5 auctions, then boom. You'll see it break the bank at Barrett Vegas. You just never know. Other cars that do nothing at Vegas will ring the bell at Goodings Pebble Beach.  It's not an exact science.
