Hi all.
I have an '86 5-S with the Maserati climate control. What is the function of the dial all the way on the left with the snowflake underneath it? Is it to engage the a/c compressor? I'm asking because my a/c doesn't blow cold when I simply push the 'Max A/C' button. Furthemore, the snowflake dial takes major effort to turn, like it's broken, and the white line on the dial doesn't go all the way down to the snowflake no matter how hard I try to force it. The dial will spin all the way around the other way, again being hard to do, but stops short of coming out of the bottom to the snowflake.
Can this dial be disassebled and fixed? Can this dial be replaced independently of the whole control unit, or do I have to replace the whole unit?
Coming out from this dial behind the dash is a solid black sheathed wire that's about the same diameter, and is flexible like solder. This wire ends near the footbox wall on the passenger side, but is not connected to anything. The sheathing ends about 2 inches from the end of the wire. Is it a mechanical temperature feed for my busted a/c dial? Has it fallen out from somewhere?
Any help would be greatly appreciated. Have a great day today!
Michael
