I don't know if it is true or not, but I also heard it helps condensers last longer. They said it is something in the engine exaust fumes being sucked in that makes the aluminum condensers spring leaks and all your freon leaks out. So moving it to the front gets it away from the exaust fumes. It would seem to me once it is gone from the rear, it would open up a dandy place for the bundle of snakes 180 pipes to exit. Can you imagine two five inch diameter pipes sticking out from that square hole where the condenser sits now??? Yikes.
