Hi,

AC in my -71 is not cooling. I don't sense any meaningful deviation from the temperature with the AC off.

I fixed the heater valve, it does not circulate hot water when closed. Previous owners have installed sanden compressor (it does not have quick disconned fittings, but threaded ports in the backside) and new barrier hose to condenser and to expansion valve, new drier, the long hose that connects to drier is apparently old one, old expansion valve under dash untouched by the looks of old black "stuff" on it.

When I put the AC on with car running the condenser fan works and you can see fluid running from the drier sight glass. Looks like solid stream rather than bubbles.

Any educated suggestions where to begin?

Thanks,
Janne

I would complete the install and swap out the other hose and expansion valave ..because there is a big difference between R12 and 134a .. any old oil and seals will be effected by the new refrigerant and leak. Also the exp vlv is different. Just because they swapped the compressor doesnt mean they did the right job .. or maybe take it to a AC shop ?

I'm still trying to learn about AC systems. Would pressure tell me if it's full or does it tell what refridgerant is in? Sorry for the basic Q's.

I'll probably take it to AC shop, but want to be prepared with knowledge and parts to hopefully get it right the first time.
