I installed 2 Flexilite pusher fans recently. After very little use my alternator went bad. A mechanic checked things out and said those 2 pusher fan were drawing a ton of current & eventually burned out the alternator. Could this be correct? I have never heard of anyone else having that problem. I have rewired the fans so I can switch them on manually.

Did you wire it to run directly from the battery or through the original wiring?
Find an electrician. Frankly, this sounds unlikely since the current draw should be going through fuses that should have blown if monstrous amounts of current were being pulled by the new fans. The stock voltage regulator also somewhat limits current draw, which would have shown on your console amp gauge. This assumes the fans were wired correctly, not directly to the alt. The stock Ford alternator is a 63-amp, barely enough to run headlights, fans, tailights and all the accessories. Higher power alternators fit the identical case and are a bolt-in. The Pantera vendors stock them. My Flexilights pull 9 amps apiece; less than the headlights.
