As it is summer down here, I wanted my air con to work well.
My pantera has the condensor and drier up the front, and a rotary compressor.
I took it to get regassed, and he said the high pressure side is blocked, or my compressor has died. Now it does work a bit, but not very much. the compressor spins fine etc.
Now I read the fantastic pantera technical pages and my diagnosis is the expansion valve ??
or this fine screen they talk about. Does that sound right ? if it is the screen will that show as blocked ? and can it be removed, cleaned, reinstalled and regassed ?
or do i replace the expansion valve ?? ( is that the same as the TX valve ??) lastly is this a Pantera specific item ? or is it a generic item ? We don't have any pantera shops down under !!
As always any help will be greatly appreciated Smiler

This is the expansion valve. The Pantera system is basically the same of a Mustang of the same year. Originally both had York compressors, the expansion valve for each - I am pretty sure - was the same internal specifications. The screen sits inside the inlet for the valve, you can pull it out with a dental probe.

CAREFUL with the valve fittings. They are a PITA to work on. Remove the passenger seat, remove the glove box, pry off the sticky tar/cork anti-sweat covering and prepare for a fun time. I have used open end wrenches with success, but with NO enjoyment. Remember if you do not fully support what you are trying to unthread, you will transmit that torque into the soft copper piping of the evaporator. Twisting off that copper line will really piss you off, so be careful.
