Has anybody changed out one of these switches with the dash still in place? I am wondering how difficult of task this is. There is a temperature sensing bulb that is inserted into the evaporator core area that looks like it would be very difficult to install. Any pointers or guidance would be much appreciated.

I used a stainless thermostat switch from another application. Napa sells several. I found one that was ajustable. That would go low enough..say 30 degrees. I fished it through behind a vevt opening and just let it touch the evaporater. I mounted the housing part on the passenger side panel above the speaker grille. I have to keep it turned all the way down and it cycles my compressor. The point I am making is mine is not actually in the evaporator just near enough to touch. My old one was cut off and is still in the evaporator.
