True. Apparently due to the rain gutters on the sides of the windshield, the boundary layer of dead air across the side window section of the outer body is over 2" thick, and the underbody airflow out over the decklid is stronger. So the main airflow at the side windows is out from the engine area, not in thru  small scoops. Gary Hall also found this out, hence the functional 'elephant-ear' scoops he marketed for Bonneville & the Silver State events.

I once asked Tom Tjaarda about the Pantera 'gills 'in the same area and he confirmed the wrong-way airflow, as the gills were originally intended to be functional. Tom really liked them and the factory kept them for their styling.
