Guys,

Looking for belt sources...and what you have found!

Here's what I am up against. I tried to mount my alternator in the perhaps "more normal" central location....

As you can see, my wiring just doesn't reach. Those are all original ends on the wiring, so I do not believe (but I've been proven wrong in the past...) that the wires have been shortened...... In addition, the mounting holes appear to be drilled rather funky as the pulleys no longer appear in parallel to each other...and the spacer is not big enough either!!!!

SO, I went back to my RH mount...so as not to need to alter the wiring. NOW, I need a shorter belt to allow adjustment so that the belt doesn't come in contact with the lower pivot bolt head! I can see marks on the belt where it was just contacting the head at some point in time, but it is just marks.....no tearing etc, and I can be happy with that!

Currently I am running a Goodyear 13241 which measures out as a 10AV0610 (10mm wide, A-type, cogged(?) by 24 inches...could also be listed as a 3VX240 (24 and 0 "tenths" of an inch 23.5" would be 235...) in the industrial circles.

I have found references to a 10AV587 (perhaps 3VX231..or 3VX232... 23.125"= 587mm) but no one seems to carry them in the automotive market. The belt that I have, seems to be the smallest that most of the shops will carry in stock, around here that I have found....

If I shorten the belt up too much, it puts the adjusting bracket up into the shields!!! I have a worn spot in my original shield already, and I do NOT want to repeat the drill with my new shields......

All for the love of a MPITA collection of steel, alumninum, and some magnesium thrown in...!!!

Any info, suggestions would be appreciated!
Thanks!
Steve

Welcome oficlassics, your first post will be helpful to me because I plan to mount the alternator where the smog pump was just for symmetry. I'm not sure if you know, the alternators were always mounted towards the left on all Mangustas, and the bracket on the right was on US cars for the smog pump.

I also noticed that your car has not made it into the databases (MangustaInternational, Provamo, and QV500), so maybe you can post a pic or two so we can see how you are coming along, and help each other out as we assemble these things.

For Steve: If you have a good copy of the parts book, look on page 113. I can't read what it says in my copy.

However! I have notes showing:

Water pump to crank:
Gates #6214 33 3/4 x 3/8
Dayco #HP33-4-3 33 1/2 x 3/8
Dayco(?) STK 343 33 7/8 x 35/64

Alt Shaft and A/C
Pirelli #221205
Dayco #HP-47-2-3 47 1/4 x 3/8
Dayco(?) STK 131M 47 1/2 x 11/16

AC Belt (maybe means Alt belt on handwritten notes)
Gates #8248
Dayco #168M 39 7/16 x 15/32
Dayco (?) HP39-6-3 39 3/4 x 3/8
Gates 6202 No Sub (don't know what this means)

Jay
Jay, What do you mean page 113, mine only has 75 pages?

Steve, The short belt is a Gates 10A0610 and the longer one is a AC Delco 15390 -88934316

Harold, Welcome to the forum. You'll find this is a fun brotherhood. Help is only a keystroke away. Yes, please show us your car, even if it is in pieces.

Denis,

Thanks! I have the 610(mm 24") belt now. I just ordered, from all places, Amazon.com, a 587 belt I believe. Left my notes at work....
10AV587? which I think is 22.1" long. The Goodyear number I ordered is #13221. (Amazon has listed all of the belts I wanted so far, plus a shorter jackshaft main drive belt, as well as the hoses that I am using!!! Had I ordered them all at the same time, I could have gotten free shipping....something that is killing me for each little part I need....but I guess it's either pay them for gas, or put it in my tank and drive around on a wild Goose chase...! HAH! I'm losing it.....

Once I get everything fitted properly, I will probably order up a spare of everything.... and update a post like this or a new one....

I'll edit this post if I find that I hosed up numbers...and will certainly let you know if they work or not!!!

I've been learning FAR TOO MUCH about belts lately....!

Steve

PS: Denis, great picture!!!!
What is that I see bolted to the top of the AC compressor?

I see that your rear jack shaft pulley is different from most others that I have seen. It is solid (no lightening holes) and appears to be a slightly larger diameter than mine...

I also see what looks like a 1/4-3/8" spacer under the sway bar bushings, and that your center ZF bolts are mounted from rear to front (heads to the rear) which is probably why they put the spacers there! Here I thought my idea to do the same on #878 was original.....

There is a small plate bolted to the AC compressor to hold the manual choke cable (removed everything eles forgot that). Couldn't tell you about the jackshaft pulley, but 1114 is my only reference (it has no holes) and I haven't modified mine.

Sorry no spacers onder the sway bar bushings and I changed the bolts orientation on the crossmember when I pulled the transaxle last year.

I now also notice differences in the crossmember gusset design between yours and mine, again mine is closer to 1114.
