We went over to Amelia to check it out on Sunday.  Cars were just beautiful of course.  All the cars look much better in person, but the mid century race cars were just incredible works of form following function and they left no doubt, no doubt whatsoever that speed is beautiful.

It was crowded.

It was smaller than I expected.

The Ritz will not let you into the restaurant unless you are a guest which I thought was a bummer.

There was a nice blue Pantera backed in against the sidewalk in the parking lot which confirmed for me that I want to paint my car.  I don't care for white cars and the darker car really made the car look smaller.  I also noticed he was on 15 campy's.

End of report.

Pictures?

I was tempted a few times, and my wife was asking me if I wanted pictures.  But, there were so many people around the cars and guys jockeying for photos, we just strolled by and looked.  The Dan Gurney Eagle was a fantastic looking car.  Some of the deep green paint on the British cars was beautiful.  Of course there was all manner of red Ferrari's.  I think we made a mistake by going on Sunday.  We figured since it was a 150 bucks each to get in on Sunday that it would be somewhat subdued.  It was packed and I think a lot of the cars were gone.

Link below is to this past Saturday's Amelia Island Concours Pre-show as
documented by one of the Youtube bloggers. They cut the count of cars in
half this year, so we only got a few in. At 23:40 on the video, you can see
our very own Steve Duba's Lincoln which was a nice tie-in for the 4
Panteras that follow. Red '72 is Greg Lambert's, the white '74 race car is
for sale and belongs to David Archibald, silver/black '71 is mine (Rob
DuMoulin), and the '74 blue one belongs to Michael Arias. It was a good
show.

So this makes it clear, Saturday would be better.  There were no Panteras on the field when we were there on Sunday.

There is no way I could have missed Dave's mighty 136 if it was there.

Saturday definitely better than Sunday.
