Amp gauge keeps going left to right ?

The nut and washer connections of the large wires to the amp gauge are known to loosen over time.

checking those connections for tightness would be the first thing I would check. Be very careful to restrict any movement of the threaded stud as it may twist and damage internal connections

it would be wise to disconnect your battery before digging into the amp gauge wiring
