Give me a break! What an idiot.

That is absurd. The line would be true if the attention you always wanted was "Look at that guy driving a mutant insect!"

The Marcos GT was - to my eye - a pretty attractive car, and they make a new one for home market that's fairly attractive. The Mantis however makes a Pontiac Aztek slightly less vomit inducing.
I thought it was going to be the car that had extensions "frenched" (as the add described it) on both the front and rear end of the car, had tuck and rolled interior, and a fake supercharger with a rear facing bug catcher sticking up through a butchered rear deck lid. I'm not kidding guys. It really does exist.

Anyone remember this car? -Poor little kitty.

I do. It was painted silver and burgundy, with a filled rear decklid. A real 70's mod time capsule! I'm sure it was considered 'hot' in it's day.

There are a few web pages floating around with more history and photos of this particular 'treatment'

"no sale at $50,000"

On the Road at an exotics cruise

Wheels and center console are nice, and the engine looks like it could do some serious damage if asked, but I still can't come to grips with some of the other mods ... wonder if a dark purple underbody lighting kit might spice it up a bit?
From certain angles the black car doesn't look all that bad-from others it looks hideous. There used to be a link to the shop that built this with a ton of build up pictures but I can't find it now. There was a ton of work done to it with a bunch of custom metal fab. If I remember correctly it once had 4 headlights instead of 2.

I think the black car is a great base to start from. New headlights, fewer air intakes etc., and it would be acceptable.

I think both cars reflect the sad situation that happens when someone with great skills and craftmanship + time and money loses his way.

Well my first car was a 68 Camaro in the´80s, it had stars, text and music painted on it, and the interior was white rabbit. Roll Eyes
OK, I didn't make it that way, but I bought it that way. To defend myself, I had it for 10 years, and it got more sensible every year, repainted it 6 times

I agree, there are a few things I really like about this car, though the front is not among them. Someone put a great deal of time, money, and imagination into this. While the looks may not please all I imagine the car has a fair bit more downforce than many out there. Not exactly how I would have executed it but different means to the same end. At first I thought it was a bit OTT but who am I to pass judgement. I am not near done with my car and by the time I am who knows what it will look like. This person built this car the way THEY wanted it. More power to them.

Well I found the website that the build pics for the black car were on. There is a video of the car running the quarter in 12.44 on the front page.
It is fastlaneautoworks.com/photogallery.php?album_id=1
I have to manually input the address or else it goes to adult friend finder if I try to link to it.
Looks like they buried the guy in June. At least he had the cat he wanted before he passed.

Personally I like this car, I can appreciate the work and thought process for the upgrades, especially the hood with what appears to be a vent system that WORKS (A La GT-40). I can also see why the headlights are a matter of taste, in my opinion those headlights are at least a decade ahead of the current styling que.
