Wow,

That looks like quite a bit of "wear and tear" for just 27,000 miles !!

But then again, given: 1) Disconnecting the clock takes less than a minute; 2) Exchanging the speedo takes less than 5 minutes; and 3) winding the clock back takes less than an hour, I NEVER believe the miles claimed by anyone (no matter how polite of an expression I may provide). I just say, "Oh, that's nice"

Absolutely and it can be done. Some may not know that Johnny Woods' show-winning Pantera had been wrecked and burned when he bought it. He taught himself bodywork & upholstery skills (as an example, he rebuilt a non-working industrial sewing machine in order to redo his Pantera's interior). Reportedly, all work on his car was done in a 16th century dirt-floor chicken coop with no heat nor power... As I remember them, English winters are not full of balmy breezes.
I can say with some certainty that Johnny comes from another planet altogether. I swear he has at least two additional time dimensions that he uses to learn and perfect craftsman skills to a level that would take a regular human an entire lifetime to achieve. Looking at the quality of his work, you would assume that he is well into his 80's, when in fact he is only 17.

Jack, the amusing story you tell of my workshop needs some correcting. My workshop was actually built in about 1890 as part of a Tannery. It does have electricity!!! but no heating. I run dehumidifiers 24/7 though.

Other than the colour, this car is almost identical to mine in condition and UK GTS spec. Although mine has never been wrecked or burned, just rusted to buggery!

I find this car fascinating. What an unusual colour. The brown interior bits dont look original to me but the rest of it looks very original. For some reason the UK spec Panteras had a chrome plated American rear bumper and bumperets on the front. The front side lamp/indicators are from an Austin 1100 and mounted on a unique pod. I have only seen these on UK Panteras up until about 76/77. I think they chose them because they where type approved for the UK and De Tomaso's Inichenti where building Minis under licence in Italy so they had access to British Leyland's parts bin.
The fog light where also very common option for flashing. I found holes on my car where they had been fitted.

This car is about as rusty as mine was except mine had been sculptured out of filler so had none of the charming originality this car does.

I am often asked to advise on rusty Panteras and I am sorry to say I normally advise them to buy a nice rust free, dry state, American car and convert it to European spec. That way they can spend their time and money on engine, paint, suspension, interior, all the fun bits in other words.

I thought the stories about Johnny were really funny... You should've said nothing Johnny, that's how legends are made!! I actually contacted the guy about this car but he hasn't come back with any details yet. Still looking for one that I can afford though, even though my wife wants me to buy a house... Got a Jag track day tomorrow maybe she'll get the car bug.... NOT!!

Just a quick line to introduce myself, I am in the UK and am quietly looking for an early Pantera. I can say Johnny is a top guy and is so helpful with advise for me, along with advise from Mike (Drew).
I enquired about this car and have had feedback from the vendor saying there has been much interest from the UK and europe, so has set the price at offers in excess of $15000 (about $24000!). I think it may be for sale for some time!!!

Personally, I don't think in this case a direct comparison of sterling to US$ is appropriate. Pantera's fetch a lot more in the UK (and Europe in general) than here in the US. This particular car is also one of very few RHD and will command a premium for that in the UK, Australia or Japan. IMO £15,000 may not be too far off the mark and although it might take time I wouldn't be surprised to see it sell for close to that.
I heard back form the agent selling it and yeah £15000 seem an awfull lot of money for something that needs so much work doing and so much money spending on it!!
I wonder if the reason Panteras cost so much money over here is because of all the tax we have to pay to get them here in the first place.
If I buy a U.S car, add 30% to the price with all the taxes our wonderful governments over the years have analy screwed us with!!
Then try to put fuel in it at £6.60 a gallon ($ 9.96)Thank God for Booze... Oh no they're taxing that too!!
