All you pay BAT is the buyer’s premium. You pay the owner of the car directly. US Customs charges a small fee to process the exportation documents (~$100) and your shipper might charge a fee to file those documents. All other fees/taxes will be shipping and importation related.

Be warned; you cannot export the car without the title. Make sure the seller has the title in hand before you send payment. If there’s a lien on the car, send payment to the lien holder but make sure you have an agreement with regard to your receipt of the title. Some US Banks take months to supply the title. US Customs will not allow a car with a lien to be exported until the lien has been paid off and you have a clear title.

That car is being sold on an MSO (manufacturers certificate of origin) it has never been titled, you should check how that might impact ease of export / import.

Looks great, just a pity it is left hand drive, I always find it instantly lets a GT40 down.

Maybe you can use a service in the states, such as Dirt Legal, to get it registered as a 1966 Ford and avoid the German import/sales tax.  I've used them and they were great!

not possible into Europe  register as a 1966 ford, they check numbers and you must have build documentation about build date , and when the first time registered.

besides import duty's there is also a ecotax , technical and the emissie rules are used from a 2017 car. on this GT40 you must chance the carburator for injection, catalistics  and exhaust noice.

better buy a GT40 which has already a honest EU title.

Simon

thank you guys for all the input. I am in contact with a agent in Germany already. but I remember the team from German TÜV which proceed the technical registration at the import of my DeTomaso in 2014. They already aware of 1966 titles of brand new cars and prevent a german title of that year with histroric number plate. Means, Simon you are probly right, emission etc. I need to check this before purchasing a car. looks like the time of auction will end up before. possibly the reserve will not be reached. reg. Uli
