Battery tenders???

I did some prior research on this and came up with Deltran as being about the best unit for the money. They have various models from basic to advanced and dual or up to quadruple battery tending.

I tried one about 15 years ago and it melted itself when I wasn't around.
I was shaking from the thought that I could have lost the entire garage and everything in it.

I realize that technology has marched on but I haven't had the courage to try one again yet.

I buy these for charging gel cell batteries at my company. I've used them for the car as well and they work great.

HOWEVER if I'm charging for longer than 1 day I'll always take the battery out of the car. I have no problems leaving this charger on a battery long-term though.

I installed a Battery Tender Plus 3 years ago. Works perfectly. Car is always plugged into it and my battery is always topped up. Prior to that, I would kill a battery in two years from extended lack of use.

I hardwired the Battery Tender loom into the front trunk and dropped the lead out the front along side the radiator. When I want to connect, it is just tucked up inside the front valance.

I have other friends that also use these exclusively and have had no problems.

Highly recommend it for $50 bucks - you can not go wrong.

Otherwise, your battery will just sit and eventually puke.

I have two here one from my Harley that is now on the Pantera, the other is on my mother-in-laws RV in the pole barn. That camper sat from August to June and fired right up. Both batteries in that thing still were full of water when we fired it up. A very good friend of mine has BMW bikes...still has the same battery in one bike for 7 years. Battery Tender kept!

I agree the Battery tender is the best money spent. I have three on various cars.

There are only a few models that work with gel-pack batteries so check before purchasing. The battery tender plus is the sure bet for all types of batteries. Silly but true.

Thanks guys, I just bought the battery tender myself. A necessary evil if you ask me, I still dont feel that great about these things but will reserve judgment until I actually test it out.
