Posting for Bob Benson.

Pantera community,
I received a call this morning from Brett Santos letting me know that his father
Bill santos passed away friday. He was at the store and had a massive heart attack.
Brett has his brother helping him with arrangements. As we all know bill was one of
the pillars in the Pantera community and has owned his Pantera for over 28 years.
His work with the pcnc track event, club store and many other functions of the pcnc
group has been a great asset to the pantera community.

Brett wanted me to let the Pantera community know of his loss. I will update every one
once i receive more information. our thoughts and prayers go out to Brett and his brother.

When I attended the Las Vegas Fun Rally in 2001 as a total newbie, not knowing a soul, I arrived at the track event at LVMS and approached the first "in charge" looking guy I saw - Bill Santos. It was the beginning of a very dear friendship with a most wonderful man.

Bill's everpresent smile, much like that of Tony Harvey, was always there for friends and strangers alike. I always felt very much at ease with Bill, and as I became more involved with PCNC, he was always there to help and advise, and just be a friend.

He will leave a large void in PCNC, but my biggest regret is he will no longer be able to be the ever-loving and caring father he has always been for his son Brett. Brett is a remarkable man, and I often tell the story of how some nine months after meeting Brett at Vegas 2001, he walked up and greated me by name when I attended my first PCNC monthly meeting. Bill did a fine job in raising his son, and that is perhaps the most important job a man ever has to do.

I will miss Bill for a very long time.

The De Tomaso Family is in mourning - we have lost one of our best.

Bill was at every event and meeting. He made a point of saying hello and making new folks feel appreciated and of interest to him. Beyond that, he was a great father to Brett who himself emulated Bill's kindness and sprit.Last year he won the PCNC President's Award for his significant contrubutions to our Club. This year he was hopefully awaiting winning the Antonio Bondo Award for his aerobatics in a Pantera going to Vegas. He will miss seeing the reincarnation of his Pantera from Kirk Evans and we all will miss him, more than he may know.
Our hearts and thoughts are with Brett and the family.
