Do you have the stock system in its entirety: shuttle valve, proportioning valve, etc?

If you go to http://www.geocities.com/provamo72/ website in the Tech section, there is a write up about brake booster and master cylinder upgrades. Have you done a "Find" (search) on this BB or on the DeTomaso forum for info on this? There have been quite a few discussions regarding this. The proportioning valve is biased toward the rear brakes so it is often modified to disable it or it is replaced with an adjustable valve. The shuttle valve (mounted on the floor) does a couple of things: gives a brake warning light on the dash and serves as a mounting point for the brake light switch. This can be plumbed out of the system and a "T" installed to accomodate the brake light switch. If you're looking for fittings, switches, etc. try Orme Brothers in CA http://www.ormebrothers.com. They were very helpful when I redid mine. Since the brakes are such a critical system I did a fair amount of research and talked to several people to double check my mods.

I am actually refering to the plumbing at the wheel. Brake line goes to a post which then feeds the two pistons on the caliper. Seems like it sticks out a lot, about three inches, and could get hit by the spring.

OK, now that we're talking about the same thing....Sorry, misread your original post. I'm not aware of anything. I haven't read about it interfering with the spring movement. If you are still concerned about it, get the thread sizes and give the Orme Bros a call. They may be able to give some advice.
