brake equaliser

i am rebuilding 9189 and simply as it has been standing around for years decided to take the equaliser valve apart for a look see befor refitting. i have not been able to find a new seal kit so i figured if all looked ok i would just put it back together with the original seals. so, apart from a little build up of crud inside the valve all seemed ok i have cleaned it all up and put it back together but is what i have done safe as the book says this is not a service part?
