hi, i'm searching for the "best" brake pads availeble for my GT5S....with the factory 15" wheels and calipers.
Now that the car runs good and on new coilovers ( Intrax) and Michelin TB15 tires i found the next "problem" is braking.... i know that with bigger wheels i can have bigger brakes but want to keep it stock for the moment as IMHO i've never seen one that looks better ... something go's wrong in the total appearence with bigger wheels.... ok, perhaps the 17" factory copys but then again... i don't know Smiler
Ofcourse the smaller diameter wheels are ,the wider the tires seems to be... could be that effect on me ? as a kid we adored those cars with the widest tires....as a expression of power .... i know, not realistic.. but want to keep my car on those 15" .....

I've seen upgrade kits for 15" wheels.... but want to experiment first with brake pads... as my rotors are still as new...

anyone knows pads that are more "race" intended ?

thanks for replys
Barry

...I have a set of Semi-Metalic Pads, For the Front Calipers of a '74L Model Pantera. Will these Fit Your Calipers?
They were Never Mounted, UNused.
I will post Pictures if Your Interested.
$49.00 USD Plus the Shipping. Shipping Cost to Belgium will High, Being Metalic, these Pads are Very Heavy. I think they are meant to be a 'Racing Track' Pad...
The later GT5 and 5S calipers are a different pad pattern than the earlier Ford era Panteras.

The fronts are the same as early Aston Martin V8 and the rears are the same as early Jaguar Series I/II/III XJ6/12 sedans.

Here is a cross-reference to source GT5S front and rear pads:

Front Pad (122mm X 73mm X 19mm)
Girling 64 325 839
GDB 503
EBC DP2223 (223 series)
Hawk HB 106

Rebuild Kit Girling SP 2577

Rear Pad (80.7mm X 66mm X 15.2mm)
Girling 64 325 738
GDB 521
GP97 (same as early Jaguar XJ series)
Mintex MGB521
EBC DP2101 (101 series)
Porterfield GD 557
Ferodo 2430F FF64R

Rear Brake Pad Pin Kit Jaguar JLM-1539 (vented rotor)
XJ12 Brake Pad Pin = 12798; Clip = 11369
Rebuild Kit Girling SP 2524

Good luck,
Julian
Not sure what pads I have on my black car, but that break system almost puts me through the windshield if I am not careful. Byars said partly due to the break pads. Even after a short run the wheels get a black/rust color on them if that means anything. Byars said dust due to those race type pads. I really like the performance, but hate the cleaning. I wish I could say what they are...so no hope there.
