Broken ZF-1 Mount

Dennis, LOOK OUT! The same thing happened to 1362. I tried to drill the stud for removal, when the drill turned it screwed the broken stud into the ZF. The hole has no bottom! You can use a left hand drill and turn it counterclokwise. I bet it comes out easy that way. I had to remove mine and shake it upside down to get the broken stud out. I went back with side mounts fabricated by PI. I think they were just over $100. They attach to the studs behind the sway bar caps. The side mounts are much better IMHO. Thanks for the information! I want to keep the 5-0 Pantera as stock as possible so I'll be trying to keep the mounts. This car won't be driven hard so hopefully they will hold up

Well after taking the mount apart, I've decided to go with the side mounts. Jesus, the only thing really holding the rear of the transmision was those 4 tiny studs on the back of the transmission case! No wonder they break a lot! Thank god nothing else was broken but the studs!

Could you please send me pictures of your ZF mount? I have a spare set of ZF side mounts and will either use those and fabricate the frame mounts or buy the kit.

Pic sent..check your inbox Just a bit of trivia... I pulled my old mount and studs from my spares box and remembered that there was a mark on the stud tips.. It appears to be an "M" like the one Masarati uses as a logo. I guess they just used what they had available. Im like Dennis here....the early single rear mount is a peice of crap.

Thanks for the quick response. I meant pictures of your new side mount replacement if you have any. I'd like to see how it attached to the frame of the car.
