Or perhaps more correctly: A Canadian giving thanks.
October 8th is Canadian Thanksgiving and so most of us have a long weekend. I like long weekends because it usually affords me some extra time to do more things I'd LIKE to do instead of just focusing on the things I know I SHOULD do.
I was tintering in the garage wiping the dust off a couple of my cars and I couldn't help but think how fortunate I've been. I have a lot to be thankful for: a loving wife, great family, great friends, my health, a decent enough job... and so on. I live in a beautiful part of a truly great country and at a pretty decent time in history. Yes, I have a lot to be giving thanks for. Oh, and some cars that as a kid I would never have dreamed I'd be able to own.
As I worked on the cars I looked outside and saw that the light afternoon rain had stopped. The sun was breaking through the clouds and making the fall leaves glow with a crazy intensity against the dark tree trunks. I thought I should pull the cars out of the garage and take a few photos of them against the fall colors.
The late afternoon light was so nice and the air was so crisp the cars were practically begging me to take them for a run in the cool humid air. I couldn't resist and took my newest cat out for a run on the deserted country roads around my house. It was the perfect Pantera driving experience. I stopped about a mile from my place and took a few more shots before heading back home to my wife who probably was wondering where I'd disappeared to. Yes, a lot to be thankful for.
Happy Thanksgiving!
