carb fitting advice pls

My 72 car 3840 has the old original carb fitted.
I have bought a 650 Holley carb and a performance manifold (Alluminium).

I have read that its easy to "Tear" the manifold gasket, and end up with a manifold leakage. I do have a new gasket for the manifold, not worked on V8's before so is the use of gasket sealant advisable or is it fitted dry? having read the story regarding the WOW engine just below this post, apologies for asking probably a daft question, My cars just going to be an A road GTS, not a race car, I'm certain that my abilities as a driver will fail far more quickly than Pantera componentry!

Hi Peter.i would say NO to any sealer , but make sure the mating surfaces are spotless
