JUST INSTALLED A NEW STROKER MOTOR IN 3926 ALSO USED A DF700000 11" CENTERFORCE DUAL FRICTION CLUTCH AND N1439 BEARING. ALSO USING A LONG THROW SLAVE. mOVED THE ARM FORWARD TO GET A BETTER CLUTCH ADJUSTMENT. aFTER FIRING UP MOTOR AND TESTING I CAN HEAR A SLIGHT GRINDING SEEMS TO BE THE CLUTCH AGAINST THE BELL HOUSING.
ANY THOUGHTS? WILL GRINDING GO AWAY WITH A LITTLE USE OR WILL IT GET WORSE? hAD STOCK FLYWHELL TURNED AND HAVE BEEN RECHECKING THE CLUTCH BOLTS. cAN SEE NO ORANGE PAINT OFF THE CENTERFORCE. ANY THOUGHTS. JOHN

When I pulled my bellhousing I saw wear on the lower section of the bellhousing. There were some ribs that were worn down. I this happed prior to my owning the car. It seemed to be the flywheel teeth that did the damage. I will look at the ring gear on the flywheel to see if it has any alum particles attached.

While you are at it, check the pinon of the starter. There is a slight chance it might be binding and not fully retracting after it is engaged causing a drag which could sound like grinding.
ROVER THANKS FOR THE INPUT. HAVE BEEN CHECKING CLUTCH ADJUSTMENT AND SEVERAL THINGS. dID NOT THINK OF STARTER. wHEN I COMPARED THE CENTERFORCE TO THE STOCK CLUTCH NOTICED THAT THE "FINGERS" STUCK OUT MORE BUT THE BEARING WAS MUCH THINNER SO THOUGHT THAT IT WAS ABOUT THE SAME. JOHN

HAD INSTALLED A BILLET STARTER FOR A 351 W AND IT WAS DRAGGING ON BACK OF FLYWHEEL. INSTALLED STOCK STARTER AND NO PROBLEMS. THE DF700000 WITH THE N1439 BEARING FROM CENTERFORCE IS A GREAT STOCK REPLACEMENT FOR THE PANTERA.NOW I CAN ENJOY THE TORQUE FROM THE NEW 434 STROKER.THANKS FOR THE GREAT ADVICE JOHN Smiler

IT'S BEEN A YEAR LONG DEAL THAT I WOULD NOT RECCOMEND FOR ANYONE. SCAT MAKES FORD CRANKS ABOUT ONCE EVERY SIX MONTHS AND MY ENGINE BUILDER GOT THREE WRONG STROKER KITS FROM SCAT OVER A YEAR TIME FRAME. ENGINE WAS GOING TO BE A 427 (4.060 BORE X 4.10 STROKE) IT ENDED UP (4.060 X 4.17) WRONG PISTONS EVERYTHING THAT CAN GO WRONG DID. sO SCAT SUCKS! ENGINE IS USING A COMP CAM HYD. ROLLER CAM 566 INT. 566 EX
