THe hot lead for the lighter hangs just above the shifter shaft in the console, and may have vibrated loose, or possibly the fuse blew. If there's power going to the lighter, I've not had a problem with most any US or Japanese-made plug in accessory to work from it. There MAY be a sort of thermal breaker in the base of the lighter socket to guard against overheating. My '72 seems not to have such but others have said its there. The lighter socket wiring is visible if you lift the ash tray out of the console, and in fact can be worked on through there. But it may be more convenient to simply unscrew the row of sheet-metal screws along the floor and pull the console out of the car. Its in two sections BTW.
