My Kind of video.
Guess they should have their cars and bikes impounded and their licenses suspended for life now.

And we should make laws that no new cars will be able to go over 100mph

Ok DT,they are calling you out. What have you got to say?I love those video's,but they never show the bad stuff.Everything nice and neet. That was real cool on that video, but what happens when the unexperienced young see a video like that? They want to emulate, and that is where the trouble lies.I love seeing the pro's do it,or the well experienced,or even I would like to try it,but I hope I get scared before I hit 200MPH.Experience tells me that,"Adrenaline can kill".

Who is DT me? And who is they? I don't even understand your post. You love the video's too? They don't show the bad stuff? Who doesn't show the bad stuff? I could post HUNDREDS of things from the internet with bad stuff. Unexperienced youth? This where parenting comes in to play right? You would like to try it? You would like to get scared before you hit 200?
I have know idea what you are trying to say or want me to say.
Yea I like that video!
The other day I watched the one with the Ford GT and the Vette it reminded me of about two weeks ago. I was driving down the 10FWY about 8:00PM and I seen them coming from behind two Honda Accords doing 100+ weaving in and out of traffic behind me. I was in the middle lane and there was a semi truck about 100 feet in front of me in the slow lane. So these two Honda were coming down each side of me. I had the wife and kid and I was pissed before they even went bye. My first instinct was to speed up and watch that Honda in the slow lane go under that semi truck! Sick I know but how many other people might think about doing this. Luckily I came to my senses and slowed a little (good thing my wife and kid were with me) and that Honda in the right lane was able to make an unsafe pass in front of me.
I think that full tilt video was pretty cool but I didn't see them putting anyone but themselves in danger.
When they go down a crowded Fwy doing double the speed of traffic and are weaving in and out of their lane that just pisses me off. I drive with one eye on the mirror most of the time so I hope these people that choose to make the Fwy their personal race track don't come across me without the wife and kid.
What's sad is I'm normally a real nice guy.

Mark, I'm just the opposite. I want to get as far away from them as possible.

Ahhhh, excellent point. No, they shouldn't.
There is a significant difference. In this video at no time did I see anyone else on the road beside the "participants". Once you involve someone who hasn't been given the option of whether they are willing to take the risk of injury or death or property damage then the rules change dramatically. The words "Reckless endangerment" come to mind. I'd think astronomical insurance premiums, assuming they could find a company that would insure them at all and if they are insured to begin with, would be appropriate. Of course it appears that money really isn't an issue with some of these drivers.
In the GT40/Z09 video I doubt the drivers could see past their overinflated egos to think of the possibility that their actions could effect anyone else on the road. The ability of many drivers now days is poor enough without having to throw in a vehicle travelling over twice the speed limit reducing the reaction time to the blink of an eye.
I'd be curious to know what its like to drive the Autobahn in Germany.

DT is DeTom.He just wrote a post on the GT40.The bad stuff is wrecks.Where are you at 12 midnight on Sat. night when your son or daughter are out with a bunch of others? No parents allowed.I've been to 150Mph.,fast enough.I'm not a professional driver.Maybe on a long desert road with no traffic.Nothing against anyone who has been over 150,but your pushing the envelope on the regular highway.I don't understand your post.
It looked like the desert footage was on a well known stretch that was open, flat, and with decent road surface. Hopefully there was someone posted at the far end with a cell phone that could warn of oncoming traffic (or stop it) well in advance of the "track". If you're smart, you can control this kind of thing pretty well.
The highway footage gave every impression of being on a new and unopened stretch of controlled access highway. The "citizen" cars look to be off on a frontage road.
The most dangerous thing to non-participants was the gathering half-on and half-off the road on the blind curve in the desert footage. Bad idea...and something we see all too often in the mountains here. Ignorant.
Other than that, this bunch seems to have chosen reasonable stretches for their runs.
Wow...200+ on two wheels. Wow.
Mooso

Sorry JWR2968, My choice in videos has been questioned lately and I guess I jumped the gun.
I do agree with you Husker. There is a time and place for everything. Doing this on a crowded freeway as seen in the GT40 video was not the time or the place.
We can say we know what we're doing all we want, but we can never say we know what others are doing or going to do around us.
Ripping down a crowded freeway at 100+ and someone changes lanes without looking or mis judges the speed you are approaching and it's over if you have nowhere to go to avoid the rear end collision. Not to mention a sudden move at this speed could very well take you from being the driver to being the passenger in the blink of an eye as you spin out of control.
So I do agree with you, some things are just stupid. There is a time and place for everything. Living in the desert is fortunate, we have many open long roads to play on where the traffic is very sparce.
When I'm out driving on these open roads at very high speeds, my biggest fears come into play when approaching a Simi in the right lane. You can't see around them so you don't know if there is a car in front of them that they are about the pass in the left lane. If they move into the left lane, then both lanes are blocked and you're screwed with nowhere to go. It's crash time, specially approaching at twice their speed. I have passed Simi's going 140+ that were moving at maybe 75 and then realized that was pretty stupid when realizing how fast I went by them....I had visions of slamming into the back of one of them at 140. That's all it took.
So now, I slow down, pass with caution and then get back up to the higher speeds once clear.

No problems DD.I like aceleration to about 110mph and that lets me out.Being pinned back in the seat is what it's all about for me.Over 120mph things can happen too fast. Now that just my opinion in my area.
