In the Summer issue of Pantera International, we will report on one failed attempt to purchase the factory and the DeTomaso trademark. If this purchase had gone through, we firmly believe that the DeTomaso brand would have had a bright future and the investors behind the failed buy-out had the financial strength, knowledge and leadership to really kick-start the company. The "white-knights" were sent home with their hats in the hand as they were millions apart. Will Mrs. DeTomaso take the trademark to her grave or will Santiago finally step up and resurrect the brand or is this just an attempt for DeTomaso to shed itself of financial obligations and the burden of having to pay employees, only to emerge from liquidation lean and mean? You can read one VIP's inside view in the Summer 2005 issue of PI. Dave
Hard to believe DeTomaso would want millions for nothing more than a name. A name with no current product even. They are plenty wealthy, no sense in letting greed get in the way of a DeTomaso SpA continuation.
